As a food reviewer for Foodjoyy, I’m thrilled to introduce you to this remarkable establishment that has quickly garnered a loyal following among food enthusiasts. With a focus on locally sourced ingredients and an atmosphere that exudes warmth and attentiveness, Rubino Kitchen is not just a dining destination; it’s an experience.
At Rubino Kitchen, the menu is carefully curated, offering a selection of both cold starters and main courses that showcase the chef's creativity and skills. Start with their Tabbouleh, a refreshing blend of parsley, tomatoes, and bulgur, or the delectable Pickled Mackerel, which brings a delightful tang that awakens your palate. For a heartwarming choice, try the Chicken and Leek Terrine, a dish that combines tradition with finesse.
When it comes to mains, prepare to be enchanted by dishes like the Bubble and Squeak Croquette and the succulent Braised Beef that melts in your mouth. Each bite radiates love and care, as noted by satisfied patrons. You might also indulge in the Lemon Tart, a sweet and tangy finish that perfectly concludes your meal.
But don’t just take my word for it. Raving reviews from happy diners echo the culinary excellence of Rubino Kitchen. Peter Rodgers reminisces about his delightful lunch that led to an immediate reservation for Sunday, claiming the food quality and service were impeccable. Stu Lovell passionately describes Rubino as "truly spectacular," lauding the chef's skills as comparable to those found in Michelin-star kitchens. The attentiveness of the staff doesn’t go unnoticed either, with Kate Lawson praising the incredible service that enhanced her dining experience, even when she made last-minute menu adjustments.

“ We were visiting the area and this place looked interesting. We had lunch and were so impressed we immediately booked a table for Sunday lunch the next day. Both meals were excellent. Great quality ingredients treated with love and delivered with excellent service. Highly recommend. We will come back to the area for another visit just to eat here again. ”
“ Truly spectacular. This hidden gem in Essex is a must visit for any food lover. This beautiful independent restaurant creates fantastic dishes with locally sourced ingredients, the result is just magnificent. The chef would not be out of place in a michelin star kitchen, and the waitress (whos name we sadly didnt get) was perfect, she was friendly, courteous and very helpful!! I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and will be back with all family and friends. Please keep up the phenomenal work. ”
“ We love this restaurant. We think it would be difficult to improve food, atmosphere, service or value for money. The little treats that arrive between courses is a great touch. ”
“ Went here on Saturday 15 April for a birthday dinner. Food was superb. Service was good. Had 3 courses for 36 per head. Not the biggest restaurant, but it is well worth a visit. The Braised Lamb melted in the mouth. The menu is quite limited, with only two items on each of the meat, fish and vegetarian choices, but each one our party had was enjoyed. Looking forward to going back soon. ”
“ Absolutely STUNNING! Decided to book a last minute reservation and completely delighted we did. Kya was a truly wonderful and attentive host. Even despite me asking for adaptions to the menu, and also changing my mind to a portion size mid way through our 5 course meal!!! The food was sensational, the scallops blew us away. So much care, love and detail went into each course. Its a shame we live on the other side of the country, but will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Essex. Thank you again Kya. ”
“ Absolutely top tier service and quality. Everything came out like a well oiled machine. Dishes were inventive and delivered on visuals, taste AND price. The ladies serving us were knowledgeable, warm and charming. Even though we had the set menu they allowed us to swap in other dishes. I brought some friends from London who eat out a lot down there and they didn’t wanted to leave Rubino Kitchen at all! I highly recommend the rabbit. Pound for pound the most flavour I have ever experienced in one mouthful, in my entire life!! ”
“ Rubino Kitchen On Saturday we made a long overdue return to Rubino Kitchen. I’m delighted to say it was our best visit to date as we enjoyed a fabulous tasting menu created by chef / owner Rob. We were also looked after superbly by Sophie. The restaurant is on the Inworth Road just a ten minute drive from junction 23 on the A12. When we arrived Sophie was there to greet us warmly before seating us at our table. At this point Rob came out for a chat and to welcome us back. For the menu which is designed so you can either have A la Carte or create your own tasting menu. This gives you the opportunity to have as many dishes as you like as well as this there also the choice of a set three course lunch menu. We decided to opt for the offer from Rob to have a surprise tasting menu. We started with a Chicken and Leek Terrine which was followed by Rabbit Agnolotti , Baked Scallops , Braised Beef with Horseradish Risotto and Haddock. Then it was time for desserts. Here we enjoyed the delicious Lemon Tart , Custard Tart and the Biscoff Cheesecake. We finished with a coffee before heading into the kitchen where we could personally thank Rob and the team for a great afternoon. There is no doubt in my mind when I say I would recommend a visit to Rubino Kitchen which is one of the best restaurants in Essex. Thank You all for a fabulous afternoon and look forward to seeing you all again soon. ”
“ Lovely lunch. Fantastic service, attentive, not invasive, very friendly. Menu changes regularly to adjust to available produce. Small taster courses served between main courses which was a lovely (and tasty) surprise. Food was delicious and well presented. ”
